With its official launch at the end of 2011, this model from Motorola mobile company is known under quite a few different names. Some of them are Motorola Atrix Refresh, Fuath and Edison, and the name that you’re familiar with will usually depend on the country you purchased it from. The phone was designed to work fantastically well with AT&T, and user reviews prove that it rarely ever fails to work. However, if you’re having problems with it, you can hard reset the Motorola ATRIX 2 MB865 quite easily.
There is not a lot to worry about when initiating such an operation, as this is a simple thing that anyone can do at home. You won’t need a lot of technical knowledge, as all the steps and their meaning can be found in the second section, below. What we consider key to understand before you follow the instructions, though, is that this procedure will restore the OS to original and will do the same with the settings. This also means that the files on the internal memory will disappear by the end of it, so it is your responsibility to back them up.
Thankfully enough, the phone having 8GB internal storage space also lets users take advantage of a micro SD card. The latter comes with 2GB of included space and can store as much as 32GB, which is great when trying to transfer files from your phone before the reset. Coming with a 4.3 inches screen, the phone has touch sensitive controls and uses MOTOBLUR UI.
Its dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, as well as the TI OMAP 4430 chipset make this Motorola ATRIX work very well in most conditions. If you bought the phone with Gingerbread installed, you can upgrade to Ice Cream without much hassle. However, an upgrade to Jelly Bean is currently not available on this phone. You can also take advantage of its 8MP camera, the version 2.1 of Bluetooth, its Wi-Fi 802.11 with dual-band and the many included apps you can find in its apps tray.
HOW TO RESTORE THE MOTOROLA ATRIX 2
The Motorola Atrix is thankfully equipped with a Li-Ion 1785 mAh battery that can be taken out of its slot without much problems. This one supports a maximum of 382 hours of stand-by time, as well as close to 9 hours talk time. If you want to do a simple soft reset on the device, you can power it off and remove the battery. After a few seconds – up to a minute, you can reinsert it and turn the Motorola on.
Whenever you follow the steps above, you will basically help unblock your phone that got stuck on a specific app or screen. If the problem is not caused by viruses, this should solve it. It is also recommended to remove as much data from the memory as possible, because too little free space can generate many issues.
For a master reset, you can back your device to factory defaults by doing this:
- Press Menu and go to Settings.
- Scroll down and select Privacy.
- Choose Factory Reset and read info.
- Scroll down and check Erase SD card in case you want that.
- Press Reset Phone when you’re ready and wait for a few secs.
- Read the warning and tap Erase Everything to confirm your understanding.
One of the easiest and most popular methods to restore all settings to default on this device is to power it off and use the exterior buttons. This is great to use when the phone doesn’t respond to commands sent via the keyboard or its touchscreen, and it can be done as follows:
- Press both Volume keys, and then hold Power.
- Wait for Boot Mode to load and use Volume Down to scroll.
- Select Android Recovery and press Volume Up when in this mode.
- When the logo shows up, press both Volume keys until the menu appears.
- Select Factory Reset using Volume buttons and move further with Power.
- Choose Yes and confirm it with the same Power button.
- After all files all deleted, press Power to choose Reboot System Now.
The phone will now reboot to its default setup screen and will start running using its original version of the Android OS.
