A fairly new smartphone from Huawei is the Ascend Mate model that came to market during springtime in 2013. This one is especially appreciated for its high quality display, as well as the long-lasting battery that lets you listen to music, use apps and play games for an extended period of time without worrying about recharging. While some complain about the keyboard that doesn’t always work properly, the phone tends to work just fine at most times. In case you’re dealing with some software issues, you might want to consider a hard reset on your Huawei Ascend Mate.
By restoring the device to original settings, you will get rid of all viruses, infected files and apps while you will also bring it back to its initial software. This will solve most such problems very quickly and with little effort. It won’t take more than 5-10 minutes for you to perform the reset, and it takes about half an hour to save your data before you proceed – all this depends on how many files you need to save. If you don’t have any important documents, it is not necessary to make a backup.
The backup can be made using a microSD card that can be placed in the card slot the phone comes with. Thanks to the technology used by this Huawei phone, you can save up to 64 GB of files on this card, so most of your relevant files can be transferred this way. In case you still have some others left, you can use the USB cable, the Wi-Fi 802 hotspot or the BT v4.0 in order to connect to another device where you want to save the rest of the documents.
Apart from the previously-listen features, the Huawei Ascend Mate also comes with 2 GB of RAM and a Quad-Core 1.5 GHz processor. As its chipset, the device uses the Huawei K3V2 and it has a Vivante GC400 as its GPU. The 8 MP camera takes amazing photos, and you can also shoot videos in 1080@30fps format. If you like listening to the radio, you’ll be pleased to know that there is Stereo FM on this phone, and it also accepts most music file types.
How to Restore the Huawei Ascend Mate
If your phone has been dealing with various problems lately, you have experienced fatal errors or you couldn’t take advantage of its usual features the same as before, we recommend following the instructions in this section. There are two ways of doing a hard reset, and the one that you should choose depends on a few factors.
For example, if the device crashes a lot, restarts all by itself and you can’t even use its keyboard, then we recommend using the external master reset keys. These ones are placed on the cover of the device and can be used even when the Huawei is shut off. Do the following for this method:
Shut the phone off and press Volume Up and Power for a while.
- Hold both keys until the Reset Screen appears and then release.
- Don’t hold for any longer than this, as the device will shut off again.
- Use Volume keys to select Wipe Data and confirm it with Power.
However, in case you’re not dealing with the problems I have previously mentioned, the device may as well be restored to factory settings by using the menu. This requires you to be able to use the keyboard properly and the phone not to shut off by itself at unexpected times.
For this option, do what’s listed below:
- Go to the Home Screen and open the Apps tray.
- Open the Settings folder and touch Backup & Reset.
- Choose Factory Data Reset, and then touch Reset Phone.
Once you’re done going through the steps above, the smartphone will automatically begin rebooting. You will be able to see the status of the operation on the screen, and you should not press any other keys while the hard reset is being done. Please make sure that you create a backup before doing so, as all the files on the internal memory will be lost.
