Hard resetting the Nokia Lumia 1520

Available in many bold colors, the Nokia Lumia 1520 was announced in October 2013 and the phone was available for sale from October 2013. It features a 6.0 inches IPS capacitive touchscreen with more than 16 million colors. The resolution of the display is 1080 x 1920 (~ 367 pixel density). The processor of the smartphone is Quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400; Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 while the graphic processor is Adreno 330. You should keep in mind that, as nice and affordable as this device can prove to be, it is important to note that, after a while, it can get stuck in some applications, freeze or work at a slower rate. You ought to note that, when this happens, all you have to do is hard reset your Nokia device to factory settings and all problems will go away23

The phone has internal memory of 16 GB or even 32 GB and 2 GB of RAM. The operating system is Microsoft Windows Phone 8, upgradeable to v8.1, planned upgrade to Windows 10 and the device has two amazing cameras. The 20 MP one is the main camera – it comes with Carl Zeiss optics, optical image stabilization, autofocus, dual LED flash– while the frontal 1.2 MP one is definitely not worth overlooking, either.

Whenever you notice that your phone is performing at an undesirable rate, then all you have to do hard reset the device back to factory default settings. This hard reset procedure offers you the chance to keep all your desired contents of the SD card, so only elements that are stored on the internal memory will be affected. Before commencing, you should make sure that the device has sufficient battery (above 60 per cent) and backup everything important. You can do this on a hard drive or any other external accessory.

There are two known methods to perform a hard reset.

First method is also known as soft reset. Soft resetting your smartphone is a method very much alike to a hard drive format on a conventional computer. Whilst everything important is deleted, the smartphone will be brought back to a working state in an instant. You need to keep in mind that a backup is recommended before beginning this process. Here is the first method to bring back your device to a functional state and get it up and running without problems:

  1.  From the main screen you have to select Windows Phone Settings
  2.  From the Widows Phone Settings menu, you will have to select About icon.
  3.  You have to touch the Reset your phone.
  4.  Choose Ok and the process will begin. Your phone will reboot with the factory settings.
  5.  Your phone will restart and it will start up with the factory settings.

The second method uses the hardware buttons and works when the phone is unresponsive and you can`t access the menu of the device. Make sure you have the battery charged because if the phone turns off unexpectedly during the process, your device may be affected. Now you can try the following steps:

  1.  Turn off your device.
  2.  Press the Power button.
  3.  Press and hold the Volume Down button.
  4.  Release the Volume Down button when you notice an exclamation point.
  5.  Press Volume Up then Volume down then Power button and the Volume down again.
  6.  Your phone will reset to its factory settings.
