The Acer Iconia Tab A700 is an Android Tablet released in August 2012. Not having a GSM network, the device only uses Wi-Fi for communication and is known to be a very good asset to have if you’re passionate about photography. Although a great tablet, the Acer Iconia can sometimes experience a few freezes and errors that could make your user experience a little less pleasant. If you’d like to regain functionality of this device, we recommend hard resetting the Acer Iconia Tab A700 to factory software.
Also known as a cold or master reset, this procedure will enable to tablet to function properly, just as it did when you first bought it. To do this, the software will be refreshed and the memory erased, which means that all the data you stored on it will be wiped down. Given this situation, we are going to show you how to create a backup of the files and apps you want to avoid losing. But before moving on with that, there are a few aspects that you should know about the tablet.
Running on Android OS v4.0, known as Ice Cream Sandwich, the Acer Iconia Tab features a non-removable 9800 mAh battery and a Quad-Core 1.3 GHz processor. In terms of memory, the tablet comes with 1 GB DDR2 RAM and an external micro SD card that can be used to store 32 GB more. As previously mentioned, the device is very good for taking pictures and capturing videos, since it is equipped with a 5 MP main camera, as well as a secondary one. If you’re a music lover, you can also take advantage of the many formats supported such as MP3, MP4, WAV, WMA, AAC, etc.
How to Restore the Acer Iconia Tab
If the Acer Iconia tablet doesn’t respond to commands on the screen and shows application errors, you can first begin with a soft or warm restore that might solve the issue. To do so, you will have to use a paper chip to press the Reset button. There is a little hole right next to the multi-function connector that can be used to perform a quick recovery.
In case this method didn’t do much and you’d like to move on with the procedure, we’d like to remind you that you should save all the media files, contacts, apps and other files you don’t want to love. To do so, you can connect the tablet to an external device and copy everything on to that one. Another way to do the same thing is via the micro SD card or a cloud that enables you to create a backup with all the data.
Once you finished saving everything you need, you can move on with the process. Please follow the steps indicated below to do this:
- Go to the Main Menu and choose Settings.
- Select Backup and Reset and go to the Factory Data Reset option.
- Tap Reset Tablet to confirm and wait for the tablet to reboot.
A similar method is the one that uses the hard reset button keys and can be safely used by following the instructions:
- Turn the device off.
- Hold the Volume Down button then press and release the Power button.
- The Recovery Menu will ask you to choose between a few options – scroll down to Clear Storage with the Volume Down key and confirm with Power.
- Choose Yes with the Volume Up button to continue and press the Power key.
This will have enabled you to restore the tablet to factory software and original settings. You should have got rid of all software issues and have no data stored on the internal memory of the Acer Iconia Tab A700. To restore it, please use the backup you made before getting started and you will be able to use the device just as you did before.
