Hard Reset the Acer beTouch E140 to Factory Settings

Launched at the end of 2010, the beTouch smartphone from Acer Mobile comes with a couple of basic, but powerful features. While it may not compare to most expensive devices out there, it is one of the few affordable, yet very good phones that one could get. If you ever experience issues with it, you should use this article in order to hard reset the Acer beTouch E140.

The same as it happens in the case of similar phones, tablets and even computers, the master reset procedure will reinstall the original OS on the device. At the same time, it will also delete all the messages and history on your Acer, it is going to uninstall your apps and remove pictures, audios and videos. To avoid losing important data, create a backup using another device or an app that is typical to Android.

You can store an additional 32 GB of files on a card by using the card slot that this Acer smartphone comes with. There is only one camera on this device – placed on the back of it, the 3.15 MP one can also record videos, but you should not expect high quality when it comes to it.

HOW TO RESTORE THE ACER BETOUCH

To clear the history and files stored on this phone’s internal memory, you can use the menu and settings. This is one of the easiest methods to solve your problems and initialize a factory reset. All you have to do is to fully charge the device, turn in on and follow these instructions:

  1. Open the Applications tab and go to Settings.
  2. Select Privacy, and then tap Factory Data Reset.
  3. Click on Reset Phone and press Erase all.
  4. The device will now format, so please don’t interrupt.

After a few minutes – between 2 and 5 – the phone will restart and be ready to be used again. All files – photos, music, videos, contacts and messages – will have been erased, so you will need to use your previously-made backup to restore these ones. Please make sure you also reinstall the apps you need so that you can use them once again.

  1. Charge the phone, and then remove the cables.
  2. Press Power and wait until the device is off.
  3. Remove the battery, wait for 30 seconds and reinsert it.
  4. Press Power and Volume Down, and then hold both keys.
  5. When the device vibrates, release the Volume button and wait.
  6. Allow the reset menu to load, and then release Power key.

The reboot will then begin all by itself, and your phone will be brought back to original factory software, as well as settings. The same as mentioned before, this operation will delete all user data, so please make sure you saved everything prior to getting started.
